Stage 04 Tiles

Tiles can have one of the biggest impact on your house design. No pressure needed here - we have this!

Do makesure tiles is high on your agenda of early orders as soon as the builders start.

Top Tips for Tile shopping:

  1. Tiles can have long lead times and they're some of the first fixtures to go down once first fix is complete. Especially if you're choosing natural stone or more specialist imported tiles, shipping can often take 4-6 weeks so it's great to choose and order tiles as soon as your builders start.

  3. Mix and Match specs to be more cost effective: choosing one area to invest in per room, e.g. use high spec in the shower area to create a focal point in the room and then use lower spec tiles everywhere else.

  4. If you're starting out, pick one colour and layer in as many different textures, shades and patterns of that colour as possible to build depth and interest. Not your first Rodeo? Try playing more with colour and pattern but the key is to stick to your colour scheme.

  5. If you're choosing natural stones like terracotta, limestone, encaustic (cement) or handmade Turkish tiles like Zellige, Bejmat, make sure you get the installation guides from the suppliers and that your contractors are aware of the pre-prep and post-lay sealant processes. They can be complicated so stick to porcelain for a high quality natural effect that is much lower maintenance to lay and maintain.

  6. Don't forget grout colours, adhesive (to stick the tiles down), and sealants for natural stone.
